Employment Specialist/Job Coach

 

Position Overview:

EmployAbility Services, a division of Responding to Autism Services, is seeking a motivated and compassionate Employment Specialist to support adults with diverse abilities in securing and maintaining meaningful employment within our community.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with the team to obtain community-based employment opportunities using customized employment strategies and evidence-based practices.

 

  • Working with clients on job readiness activities such as job training, employer expectations, completing resumes, completing applications, interview skills, and other skills necessary to obtain and sustain successful employment.

  • Building professional and supportive relationships with clients, employers, and families, if applicable, to find suitable employment tailored to specific skills and interests.

  • Writing case notes clearly, concisely, and professionally while consistently meeting deadlines.

 

  • Keeping accurate documentation of services delivered, time worked, and mileage/expenses incurred, along with data and notes, to adequately show a client’s individual progress toward employment/service plan goals.
     

  • Providing on-the-job support/coaching to clients at their job sites in the community.

  • Providing guidance and coaching under program requirements and participants' needs, including but not limited to accountability and positive reinforcement.
     

  • Connecting positively with community agencies and employers, serving as liaisons for participants to ensure appropriate job matches and to promote the agency and its mission.

 

  • Following and maintaining strict RTAS company policies related to client information

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrate professional maturity and appearance

  • Resilient, punctual, reliable, and positive

Required Qualifications:

  • One or more years of related experience in social services.

  • Must have a reliable form of transportation to visit job sites.

  • Must possess a good driving record and proof of current driver's license and insurance.

  • Must satisfy a background check and comply with the company's drug-free workplace policy.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

  • Computer and technology proficient.

  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly with job development or vocational training.

  • Knowledge of the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Department of Disabilities Administration

  • Familiarity with Mac computers and Apple products

                   
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform basic functions.

Stand, walk, sit 1/2 of the time. Must be able to work during high-stress situations occasionally
Reach with hands and arms, and bend/twist 1/3-2/3 of the time
Occasional straight pulling, pulling hand over hand
Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl up to 1/3 of the time
Occasional climbing of stairs

Work Environment:
Your duties will be performed in a typical office setting and at various job sites within the community. You may be asked to assist clients on job sites that may occasionally expose you to elements including but not limited to: excessive heat (>80 degrees F); excessive cold (<32 degrees F), moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, moderate to loud noise (vehicles, forklift, shredders, etc.), blood-borne pathogens, hazardous chemicals. Face masks, safety glasses, impermeable gloves, or other safety tools may be required.
