1. How do I know what services will work the best for my child and family?

During your first free consultation we will discuss the many different service and support options available at the RTA Center and in the community and determine together which would benefit your child and family the most. An initial needs assessment can be helpful to determine the best course of action.

2. Where do the services take place?

Services take place generally at the Responding to Autism Center. We have a variety of rooms to work with both children and families, including a one-way parent observation window! We also make visits to schools, daycares, and a families home if needed.

3. Do you take insurance?

At this time we are not able to bill insurance. We offer sliding fee scales and partial or full scholarships for most ALL of our services. All support services are no cost. No one is turned away for inability to pay.

Many of our services are also FREE of charge!

4. My child is older, or is non-verbal or has behavioral difficulties. Do you have services for him?

We have services for children and young adults of ALL ages and ALL abilities on the Autism Spectrum.

We also offer support, trainings, guidence, and classes for all members of the family as well.

5. I am unsure and have questions, can I schedule an appointment to find out more?

Social Skill Classes

Social Skills Classes available at the RTA Center!

** Parent testimonials about social skills classes!

When we decided to enroll Morgen in the social skills class, we were nervous. We weren't convinced he was really ready to tackle the complex social concepts that would be taught in the classroom. The teachers at the Responding to Autism Center quickly adapted to Morgen's special "needs" and he flourished in the class. We immediately noticed an increase of awareness in Morgen -- he would stop his intricate playing and watch others around him, clearly thinking. This quickly moved from watching others to including others in playing. Instead of preferring to play by himself, he is constantly requesting (or demanding) that his dad or I play with him. Having meaningful and lasting relationships is a huge goal for our children, and we were excited to see such improvement so quickly! -- Amanda & Andy C. WA

We have seen HUGE improvement. The biggest tangible outcome is he is (as I write) at a play date with our neighbour who has her grand kids in town. I have never before felt comfortable doing this unless it was with family. -- Melissa F. WA

We have noticed a HUGE difference in DJ. Once a shy little boy who wouldn't say anything to anybody he didn't know is now very social.. Christine and her team are great.. For example... We had a yardsale today and he was telling his "customers" where the toys and the clothes, etc were. It was so awesome. My eyes swelled up with tears. He was also trying to become friends with the kids that showed up also. THANK YOU!!! -- Bernadette and David H. WA
